Mike Lackey joins as SVP of Reactor D&D Business Development and Commercial Strategy
EnergySolutions, Inc. announced today that Mike Lackey has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Reactor D&D Business Development and Commercial Strategy.
Mike has 35-plus years of nuclear construction, startup, operations and decommissioning experience at commercial reactors and U.S. Department of Energy nuclear facilities. As General Manager of the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant located in Oregon, Mike managed one of the largest most successful commercial reactor deactivation and decommissioning projects to date.
Prior to Joining EnergySolutions, Mike was Vice President of Nuclear Operations for the Nuclear
Business Line, within the Power Group of Fluor Corporation. In this role, he was responsible for
all engineering, procurement, construction, and other key functions supporting Fluor’s nuclear
power projects.
Mike has over thirty-five years of nuclear construction, startup, operations, and decommissioning experience at commercial reactors and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear facilities. His commercial nuclear experience includes start-up testing, management of reactor operations, and outage management positions at the Vogtle Nuclear Plant. As general manager of the Trojan Nuclear Plant, he managed one of the largest and most successful commercial reactor deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) projects to date, earning the Project Management Institute’s International Project of the Year Award in 2000.
Government nuclear experience includes three years as D&D Vice President at the DOE
Hanford site which is currently undergoing one of the world’s largest environmental cleanup
efforts. Mike has served on numerous industry decommissioning advisory boards and lead an
International Atomic Energy Agency management mentoring program for the Chernobyl project.
Mike has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University and is a
registered Professional Engineer. He has also obtained a Senior Reactor Operator license and
instructor’s certification from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
